Piazze e spazi pubblici a Castelfondo
The project concerns the creation of a system of open spaces obtained from the demolition of a pre-existing building within the small Alpine village of Castelfondo. The system of public spaces is divided into three different levels having to manage the differences in height between the pre-existing square and upper roads. Through a series of walls built of washed concrete the spaces face each other defining intimate and different atmospheres. The materials choice is crucial: the concrete, made of porphyry sand and porphyry aggregates, recalls the town's historic buildings’ massiveness and texture, while the stone used is a tribute to the main mountain of the Municipality, Monte Luco, the only peak made of porphyry of the whole Maddalene chain. This way, the project seeks to deeply link the village, the landscape and the territory.
Il progetto riguarda la realizzazione di un sistema di spazi aperti ricavati dalla demolizione di un edificio preesistente all’interno del denso nucleo abitato di Castelfondo, piccolo paese alpino.
Il sistema di spazi pubblici si articola su tre quote differenti dovendo gestire le differenze di quota tra la piazza preesistente a valle e le strade a monte.
Attraverso una serie di muri realizzati in calcestruzzo lavato realizzato con una sabbia di porfido ed inerti di porfido gli spazi si affacciano l’uno sull’altro definendo luoghi intimi e tra loro differenti.
La scelta dei materiali è centrale: la ruvidità del cemento ricorda la massività e le tessiture degli edifici storici del paese e la pietra usata, il porfido, è un tributo alla montagna principale del comune, il monte Luco, unica vetta della catene montuosa delle Maddalene la cui pietra è il porfido. In questo modo il progetto cerca un legame profondo con il paese, il paesaggio e il territorio.
